My name is Morgan de Amezola (formerly Hartman) and I received my BA in Art at Illinois Wesleyan University and then my master’s degree in Art Therapy from Illinois State University. I am a Licensed Counselor in Florida, Illinois and New Jersey. In my academic studies, I was able to shape my deepest philosophy about finding creative ways to uplift people’s spirits, identify problems and solutions, and put ideas into action. I am a sober woman in recovery, a cancer survivor and a believer in taking each moment as it comes as a gift. As a student of yoga and meditation in my spare time, I further believe that wellness stems from our ability to maintain a fluid connection between mind-body-spirit.
I began working as a therapist in substance abuse treatment centers, and now currently in private practice from my home in Palmetto Bay, Florida. I see clients virtually for everyone’s safety. I previously worked as a territory and regional sales manager in fine wine distribution, a life-skills teacher for differently-abled adults, and an administrator for a non-profit arts organization.
My passions include working with people with addictions and dual-diagnosis, including assisting the transition from treatment into a meaningful life while maintaining sobriety. I also work with people who experience depression, anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties and of course, everyday life changes and challenges. I am working on a certification in grief counseling that should conclude in June 2023. I mainly use Cognitive-Behavioral and Dialectical-Behavioral techniques, with a person-centered, solution-focused approach. I often incorporate. 12-step, Gottman and Imago techniques too.
I guarantee a judgement-free environment full of empathy, hope and understanding. The counseling relationship is critical, and I hope to earn your trust swiftly and earnestly!
